API Standard Titanium B381 Gr.F-2 1500LB 3-PC Forged Steel Trunnion Mounted Metal Seated Ball Valve
The structure of a metal to metal seated ball valve mainly consists of valve body, valve ball, sealing ring, valve stem and packing. Among them, the valve ball and sealing ring are key components, usually made of high-strength and corrosion-resistant forged materials such as stainless steel or high alloy steel material. The surfaces of the ball and sealing ring are precision ground and hardened to ensure a tight fit between the ball and the sealing ring for achieving a good sealing effect.
Product Details
Compared to soft sealed ball valves, metal to metal seated ball valves not only have the characteristics of low fluid resistance, quick and convenient opening and closing, good sealing performance, long service life, high reliability, and easy installation with electric and pneumatic devices, but also can adapt to a wider range of temperature and fluid medium fields. Therefore, they are widely used in pipeline transportation. The ball and seat of a hard sealed ball valve are both made of metal materials, and a sealing pair composed of metal and metal materials is commonly referred to as a hard seal. The design specifications for hard sealed ball valves shall comply with API 6D. Mainly composed of valve body, valve seat, sphere, valve stem, and driving device.
For occasions above 100 ℃, use a packing sealing structure. The ball and valve seat are hard sealed. The static pressure surface of the valve seat and the valve stem are sealed with graphite packing. Remove the thrust pads between the valve stem and the gland flange, as well as between the sphere and the support plate. Gland flange and support plate are nitrided. This structure is not limited by the usage temperature and can generally be used up to around 500 ℃;
For situations where the temperature is less than or equal to 100 ℃, use an O-ring sealing structure. The structure of the fixed ball valve is generally the same as that of a conventional fixed ball valve (an oil injection device is required at the valve seat and valve stem). The static pressure surface of the valve seat and the valve stem are both sealed with O-ring seals, except that the ball and valve seat are hard sealed. Pure PTFE thrust pads are used between the valve stem and the gland flange, as well as between the support plate and the sphere.
The sealing structure of the hard sealed fixed ball valve with packing seal adopts an elastic valve seat, and a group of springs are arranged along the circumference of the valve channel cross-section to always maintain the valve seat pressing against the ball and achieving a pre tightened state. When the fluid pressure on the valve seat is very low, it relies on the thrust of the spring; When the fluid pressure is high, the unbalanced force generated by the fluid pressure on the valve seat ensures sealing. The compressed area of the valve seat is greater than the reverse compressed area of the valve seat. The unbalanced force generated by fluid pressure on the elastic valve seat pushes the valve seat forward towards the sphere, compressing and maintaining the seal. The higher the fluid pressure, the more favorable it is for the sealing of this structure.

Additional Features
There are generally two types of structural designs for hard sealed wear-resistant ball valves: ball floating type and ball fixed type. Regardless of the type of structure, in the medium used under harsh wear conditions, it is necessary to prevent the accumulation of spring chamber materials at the elastic valve seat from causing the valve to malfunction, resulting in abnormal torque increase or “jamming” of the valve. For this working condition, the manufacturer has developed self-cleaning wear-resistant ball valves (floating type) and damping sedimentation structure wear-resistant ball valves (fixed type), which effectively solve this problem.
Metal hard sealed ball valves have the characteristic of self-cleaning. The upstream floating valve seat is designed as a self-cleaning channel structure with a blowing function. During the opening and closing process, the valve can rely on the pressure of the medium itself to blow and sweep the materials accumulated in the spring and valve chamber, in order to prevent solid particles from accumulating in the spring chamber and potentially causing “lock up” phenomenon, which affects the normal operation of the valve; The sealing valve seat is a replaceable structure; Add two self-lubricating bearing pads at the valve stem to reduce valve operating torque.
The elastic valve seat of the metal hard sealed ball valve adopts a “guiding” structure design, and the damping sedimentation tank is designed in front to ensure that the valve can effectively deposit materials in front of the spring chamber during use, without affecting the normal retreat of the valve seat.

Applications
Metal sealed ball valves, with their unique advantages, are widely used in coal chemical industry, polysilicon, oil refining, offshore platforms, traditional power plant drainage systems, and power plants. In conditions that require tight shut-off, high temperature and high pressure differential, quick opening and closing, and media containing solid particles, metal hard sealed ball valves are the preferred valve type. However, metal hard sealed ball valves generally have problems such as low service life, internal leakage, and jamming (or jamming) during operation. Faced with increasingly high wear requirements and strong erosion conditions, wear-resistant ball valves need to be optimized in terms of hard surface treatment, structural design, component selection, and processing.
