Introduction to Ball Valve

A ball valve is a quarter-turn flow control device, using a spherical ball with a central bore to regulate fluids. A 90-degree handle/actuator rotation switches it between open and closed, with the handle’s position showing its status clearly.
Its key components include valve body, ball, stem, seats and actuator. It has two main types: floating ball (for medium-low pressure) and trunnion-mounted (for high-pressure, large-diameter pipelines).
Durable and low-resistance, it is widely used in petroleum, chemical and water treatment industries, with limitations like poor throttling performance that can be addressed by special designs.
